Gamsol vs. Baby Oil

Although, I am very fairly new to using Prismacolor Pencils with Gamsol, I liked the idea of substituting baby oil for the latter. So far, I have not experienced any problems that might occur when using the Mineral Spirits, but how much better would the harmless baby oil be! Not to mention the lovely baby scent that goes along with it.
So I asked my honey to bring me one of those travel sized bottles of baby oil when he was at the store. Of course, he was unable to find the small bottle and instead presented me with a huge 20 oz one. I went to try it out and alas, I did not like the result as well as the one I achieved with the Gamsol.
Having said all that, I retrieved my slippery 20 oz bottle of baby oil from the bathroom today, when a friend asked me to try it with the
Koh-I-Noor Woodless pencils. Weeeell, let me tell you, I liked the combination a lot and I may just have to reconsider the baby oil altogether! It blended the Kooh-I-Noor pencils beautifully.

Here's my side-by-side comparison, both on watercolour paper:

Please bear in mind that I actually coloured the image on the left (the one with Gamsol) on Thursday and the other one today.

Have you tried both mediums yet? Which one do you prefer?

What a great comparison. Thanks for doing this for us. I always wondered about the baby oil option. Now I just have to go out and get those Koh-i-noor pencils...

I have tried the baby oil with my Prismacolors and do not like using it at all. But I am going to have to try it with the Koh-i-Noor pencils. Thanks for the tip, Isabelle!
